Our story
After 15 wonderful years of living in Vlezenbeek, close to Brussels, we began to feel, as a family, a growing desire for a place where we could truly slow down. With two daughters growing up, we dreamed of more space, silence and greenery — a home where we could unwind together. In 2017, that dream suddenly felt very close. We were given the opportunity to buy a beautiful square farmstead in picturesque Sint-Laureins-Berchem: peaceful, green, yet surprisingly close to Brussels. Right from the start, it felt truly special. It was love at first sight — the unique location, the sweeping views, and the soul of the place touched us instantly. That very same year, we took the leap and moved into the farm's main residence, step by step shaping our new home. At first, we renovated several parts of the house. But gradually, something began to stir: the desire to share this special place with others. The large grain barn also kept drawing our attention. When it became clear that the end wall was starting to crack, we made a decision that felt both exciting and natural: we would convert the barn into a spacious holiday home, a place where people would feel not only welcome, but truly at home. What followed was an intensive journey of permits, searching for the right architect and contractor, making choices, adjusting plans and, above all, persevering. There were setbacks — the roof, unexpectedly, had to be completely dismantled — but step by step, the holiday home grew into our family’s labour of love. Everyone contributed in their own way, from major decisions to small details in the interior design. The result is a place we are proud of, and one we are now delighted to warmly share with you. |
